MEET OUR ROCKSTARS

THE PLANKTONS
2024 sees the return of The Planktons to The Triffid stage for their 4th Jurassic Jam appearance. The self-proclaimed “Queensland's number one, once-a-year, middle-aged, charity covers band” has been busting out classic covers around Queensland for 10 years now. At the same time, they've been holding down day jobs in IT, Insurance, Property, Brokering, and even Waste Management. Their set list is like their jobs: diverse and dynamic. And if there's one thing we've learnt from watching The Planktons close out JJ these past few years, it's that you won't leave The Triffid wondering where the dance floor is.

THE MANILOWS
The Manilows are a Brisbane based band covering pop rock songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. They bring their own special touch to each song and an energy that has established them as one of Brisbane's favourite covers bands, sought after for corporate events and functions. The Manilows were a founding band for Jurassic Jam and they have performed at every Jam since 2015!

JUMP THE SHARK
Jump the Shark have developed a strong local following playing covers from the ‘60s to the current day along with a recently released EP of originals. They have performed at Jurassic Jam in various forms since its inception in 2015.

ROGER THE CABIN BOY
Roger The Cabin Boy (RTCB), now in their 21st year, whose name is derived from a sub-culture spoof cartoon show based on the 1960’s children’s cartoon “Captain Pugwash”, is the godfather of the Brisbane “Shed Punk” cover band scene.

GOLD CREEK
Gold Creek is a 7-piece rock band hailing from the western suburbs of Brisbane. They have built a strong following as crowd favourites at music events across the state with their high-energy mix of songs from every popular genre since the '70s.

THE WATERHOUSE GIRLS
After 10 years, The Waterhouse Girls are resurrecting their original fusion duo. Their music is an honest tapestry of rich harmonies and authentic storytelling with a tinge of self-effacing humour.

How to get there
Parking and public transport
Parking
We recommend ditching the car so you can have a bevvy in The Triffid Garden. But if you’ve been dragged into deso – there’s limited street parking around Newstead or you can pay for parking at the Gasworks. Paid parks are from 7am-7pm, and unmarked spots are generally 2 hours free parking.
Public Transport
No one likes driving around for hours looking for a park. Public transport to the venue is a good option. That way you can also relax and have a few cheeky beverages.
It’s a 100m walk to the Commercial Road CityGlider bus stop that provides high-frequency, 24-hour transport on Friday and Saturday, and 18-hour services from Sunday to Thursday. Buses on this route go to and from West End, South Brisbane, the CBD, and Fortitude Valley and Teneriffe.
